Israel’s group of filmmakers met for the first time on April 19th in Tel Aviv. Filmmakers had a chance to discuss their projects with their respective mentors, fellow Out of Place participants and our Out of Place Israel team, including Ziv Naveh, Adi Bar Yosef and Heila Myara.


Mentor Liran Atzmor will be working with  Yakie Ayalon and Ran Mendelson on their film The Essien Children, about three siblings born in Israel to migrant parents from Nigeria; and with Ittai Meyer and Carmit Shlomi on their film, Hamza, which tells the story of a young deaf Palestinian, who has become a celebrity in the deaf community due to comic videos he creates and posts on Facebook.


Out of Place Mentor, Suha Arraf will be working with Tamar Kay and Orit Fouks on their film  In The Wake Of The Yellow Wind, A journey between dreams of different children;  Sana Tanus and Jamal Kahili on their film Ibrahim, a body building champion who becomes religious; as well as with Or Sinai and Yael Yakirevich on their film Hilton, the story of immigrant employees at the luxurious Hilton Hotel.
